A month here, not a lease

The difference is the paperwork you skip.

A Portuguese rental lease is built for someone staying for years, not months: an agency fee, a guarantor, a deposit worth several months' rent, then your own contracts for electricity and internet, and furniture to find. None of that applies to a booking. You pay for the stay, the apartment is already furnished and connected, and you leave on the date you said you would.

Suited to longer stays

Four homes that work best for a month or more

Not every apartment suits a long stay equally well. These four have the desk space, the location and the availability pattern that make a month feel easy rather than cramped.

Where to settle in

The best area for a weekend isn't always the best area for a month

Alfama is the neighbourhood we'd send someone for three nights: steep lanes, tiled staircases, a view worth the climb. Over a month, that climb is a daily grocery run with bags, and the tourist flow that makes it atmospheric on a short trip gets old on a Tuesday commute.

Campolide, the Gulbenkian area and Avenidas Novas trade that romance for what a longer stay actually needs: flat streets, a metro line, a proper supermarket nearby, and neighbours who live there year-round rather than for a week. They're also better value, since demand for a month is lower than demand for a weekend in the postcard part of town.

Questions about monthly stays

What counts as a monthly stay?

Any booking of one month or more. Most guests stay somewhere between one and six months, for a relocation, a remote work stint, a renovation back home, a visa process, or a family between houses.

Is a monthly stay the same as signing a Portuguese lease?

No. A lease is a legal contract with a landlord, usually requiring an agency fee, a guarantor and a multi-month deposit, plus your own utility contracts and furniture. A monthly stay with us is a booking: no agency fee, no guarantor, no deposit beyond the stay, fully furnished, and bills already included. You leave on the date you booked.

Do I need a Portuguese NIF or proof of residency to book?

No. You book as a guest, the same as a short stay, just for a longer period. No fiscal number or residency paperwork is required from our side.

Are bills and utilities really included?

Yes. Electricity, water and high-speed fibre WiFi are included in the rate, with nothing to set up yourself.

Can I extend my stay once I'm there?

Usually, subject to availability. Message us on WhatsApp as soon as you know your plans have changed and we'll confirm whether your apartment is free to extend into.

Is this only for remote workers?

No. We host remote workers, but just as often relocating families, visa applicants waiting on paperwork, and people between houses during a move or renovation. What they have in common is needing a properly equipped home for a few weeks or months, not a hotel room and not a lease.
